Purpose: The purpose of the newspaper is to teach journalism as as English elective. At a minimum, the paper is published in five issues. Students are encouraged to explore the current events of Bolton High, the Memphis area, Tennessee, and the world as a whole while learning journalistic techniques, interviewing techniques, and story writing. The staff meets as a class during sixth period.

Requirements: The students are hand-selected by Mrs. Young. In February of each year, students interested in being on staff for the following year fill out an application. These are made available outside Mrs. Young's room, E-135. Students' attendance, GPA, recommendations, attitude, and other school commitments are taken into consideration.

Sponsor: Mrs. Dianne Young, the newspaper advisor, has one year of previous experience. Additionally, she sponsors Bolton's yearbook, the Wildcat. She also teaches honors British literature to twelfth grade students.
