FT111Theatre Arts Speech Communication 1 Credit Grades 9-12 |
Speech Communication introduces the student to basic public speaking techniques essential to all professions. The course fosters growth in self-esteem through performance. Topics will include emphasis in self-analysis, career development, interviewing, oral interpretation, discussion formats, speeches (informative, process, persuasive, after dinner), acting, parliamentary procedure, and television and radio. Both formal and casual speech-making assignments are part of the course of study with emphasis on performance. This class serves as a prerequisite for TV Production and is recommended as a prerequisite for Acting. |

Television Production is performance oriented, giving the student the practical experience of airing in house broadcasts of news magazine formats. Students learn the technical aspects of working with audio and video equipment, as well as, to use his/her creativity through writing scripts and posing as talent/anchor. After-school hours working includes group shooting, editing, sport projects and advertisement projects. Prerequisite: Credit in either FT111, FT131, FT141, FT241, or FT311 and permission from the instructor before signing up for the course.* |
FT321Theatre Arts Advanced TV Production 1 Credit Grades 11-12 |
Advanced Television Production is performance oriented, giving the student the practical experience of producing independent projects, (i.e.: Senior Video, sports packages and music videos), as well as, airing in house broadcasts of news magazine formats. Students will also mentor beginning TV classmates in sport and advertisement projects. It offers the student to fine-tune technical skills with audio and video equipment, as well as, to use his/her creativity through writing scripts and posing as talent/anchor. Non-linear editing is emphasized for post-editing projects. Prerequisite: 11th or 12th Grade Student: Credit in FT221 and permission from the instructor before signing up for the course or 12th Grade Student: Academically and technically gifted student in computers and permission from the instructor before signing up for the course.* |
