Course Description:

In English, major areas of concentration include: composition writing, grammar usage, literature, vocabulary skills, literary techniques, and methods of developing a well constructed essay as well as the successful completion of a research paper.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, students should demonstrate competence in writing compositions and research papers, correct grammatical usage, understanding of literature and literary techniques, and vocabulary and analytical skills.

Course Format:

The students will meet the above objectives through: Lectures/Discussions, Examples/Demonstrations, Practice/Group Assignments, Tests/Essays/Homework/Participation.

Evaluation Procedures:

Grades will be determined and calculated as follows: Classwork - 30%, Homework - 10%, Participation - 20%, Tests/Quizzes - 40%

Students are expected to be respectful at all times. All classroom rules, expectations, and procedures may be found in the student's notebooks.
